Show ROUNDUPS ARE TO BE ILfl ST COLLEGE Tho extonsion division of the Utah Agricultural college plana to hold throe bjg Farmers' Roundups and Housekeepers' Conferences in Utah this year, according to plans just announced an-nounced by Director of Extension John T. Gaino III. The first of these conventions con-ventions will bo held at Richfield from Monday, January 1-1, to Saturday, January Jan-uary 19, 1918, inclusive. Logau will be the scone of the second convention, which will run the weok from January 21 to 26, while the third will be hold at the Branch Agricultural college at Cedar City from February 4 to February Feb-ruary 9. As in tho past, each convention will emphasize most those factors in agricultural agri-cultural and home development most pertinent to the section of the state in which the meetings are held. In general, gen-eral, particular stress will be laid upon increased production and greater conservation. Highly specialized institutes will also bo conducted throughout tho winter win-ter In qvory section of tho state. These schools will bo under the Immediate supervision of the various county agents and homo demonstrators In Utah. Each county agent or home demonstrator, In consultation with the farmers and housewlvos of any district, dis-trict, will determine upon tho kind of Information most Heeded in that particular par-ticular locality. A call will then be issued to tho extension division of tho collego for those specialists needed. The first such Institute has been scheduled for Heber, Wasatch county, November S and 9, 1917. Dairy and livestock problems will be omphaslzed In the men8 sessions while the women will stress greater food conservation. The following specialists have been secured for this Institute: Dr. H. J. Frederick, veterinarian of Utah Agricultural Agri-cultural collego; Professor Ben R. Eld-redge, Eld-redge, state-wido dairy specialist of the extension division; Professor L. M. Winsor, Irrigation specialist in extension exten-sion work; Professor M. H. Greene, field agent in marketing for Utah; Mark Anderson, forestry servico, U. S. D. A.; David Jennings, county agent for Utah county; Miss Joan Cox, assistant as-sistant professor of' foods and dietetics, Utah Agricultural collogo, and Miss Hortenso White, assistant in homo economics extension work for Utah. |
