Show BALTIMORE IAS DESTRUCTIVE FIRE BALTIMORE, Mtl., Oct. 31. One of the largest fires in Baltimore since the great conflagration m February, 1904, that destroyed the business section sec-tion of the city, broke out last night on tho big piers of the Baltimore & Ohio railroad at Its terminal on the I soutn side of the harbor. On the piers I were stored vast quantities of muni-! muni-! tlons and supplies for the American I forces in France and their allies. Many ! cases of shells exploded. Within ten 1 minutes after the flames were discov-1 ered the entire structure was ablaze. I Fifteen of the crow of a British ! steamer lying at the pier leaped overboard over-board and it is feared some of them j were drowned. A dozen or more men employed on the pier nre missing. It is reported that the fire was of incendiary origin. United States secret service men j are investigating minors that suspic-i suspic-i ious looking men wero seen hurrying from the vicinity a few minutes after ! the fire was discovered. , The loss probably will reach several! , millions.
