Show I WATER SURVEY MADE IN" MILFORD VALLEY j By AL ROSS A crop pattern survey of the Milford and Minersville area has recently been completed. The survey was taken to help expedite the water supply studies stu-dies that are now in progress in the area. The field work was under the supervision of W. Barrett of the Soil Conservation Service, with L. King and A. Ross assisting. The purpose of the survey is to tie consumptive use of water to the crops grown, each crop requiring a specific amount of water during the growing season. sea-son. This, couples with inflow-outflow inflow-outflow measurement, will help determine just how much of a demand will be made as to sur- ' face water and underground water supplies for irrigation of crops, and how much is consumed con-sumed by native vegetation thruout the irrigated areas. The demand both by farmers and municipalities for water; has been steadily increasing: thruout the west. This increase is reflected in economic value in each area, and has also de-1 manded better and more com-, plete studies of water use than in the past. I To meet this situation, different differ-ent agencies, both federal and state, are cooperating in obtaining ob-taining this much-needed information infor-mation in each area. |
