Show City Hoop League Opens Friday Night In SHS Gym Six teams in the city recreation basketball league will open league play Friday night at 7:30 in the gym, with two games scheduled. Listed in the league this year are teams repre- sentinsr Russell's Grocery Store, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brook-side Brook-side Market, Safeway, Gal's Used Cars, and Mapleton. All teams except Cal's played in the league last year. The league boasts some outstanding players and former "has beens." This year two nights will be used in playing games, with most of the contests to be played on Thursdays. Friday's schedule will pit the strong Russell's team against the VFW club in the opening open-ing game. Brookside Market, the defending title holder, will oppose Safeway at 8:30.
