Show jSpringville Playhouse To Present Plays Tonite, Fri. Townspeople are invited to pause in the busy rush of the pre-holi-day season and see the two one-act one-act plays to be presented by the Springville Playhouse, Thursday and Friday evenings, beginning at 8 p.m., in the Fourth ward amusement amuse-ment hall. "The Empty Room," a drama of the First Christmas, by Dorothy Clark Wilson, is one of the appropriate appro-priate selections; being directed by Mrs. Merle Schreiner. The cast of characters includes, Jerrol Boyer, who will take the part of Hamer, a young Bethlehe-mite; Bethlehe-mite; Joanna, his cousin, will be taken by Glenna Cutler. Louise - - Springer will play the part of Rebecca, mother of Hamer; El-mina El-mina Madsen, Mary of Nazareth; Glen Pyper, a nobleman of Casper-naum Casper-naum and Duane Roylance. David, a servant. The prophet is being portrayed by William Schreiner. The scene of the play is a room in the old Khan of Bethlehem and the time is the evening of the First Christmas. Assisting with the costumes is Mrs. Mary Maycock. Woodrow Weight is in charge of publicity; Mrs. Marva Davis, advertising and Lee Huff, staging. The Witches Hour & Candle Light The other play takes place in 1776 in Boston, in the living room of the Rufus Endicot home. Entitled, En-titled, "The Witches Hour and Candle Light," by Pauline Phelps and Marion Short, it is being produced pro-duced by special arrangement with Samuel French. Directing the play is Miss Valena Jones with Mrs. Vera Zobell, Mrs. Melva Wheeler and Farlin Wood in charge of music. Houston Wingate will be seen as Boyd Warner, a patriotic soldier; Grant Clyde will take the part of Rufus Endicott, a Boston Tory. Norman Dunn will be seen as Jason, Ja-son, Endicott's serving man and Miss Helen Ash will take the part of Angela Endicott, Rufus' daughter. daugh-ter. Tickets may be secured from members of the Playhouse organization organi-zation or at the door each evening. Playhuse membership cards will also be honored. |
