Show Devils Play Dixie Tonite; Deita Saturday Tonight's Game Shifted From Fri.; Devils Win Two Games In Week Springville's lied Devils will get a stiff test this week when they line up against top competition from the southern part of the state. The Devils are sched- billed to play the Dixie high school club from St. George here tonight, beginning at 8 p. m. The game was originally set for Friday night. On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Springville club will battle the strong Delta high Rabbits here. Preliminary games will be played at 6:30 p. m. both nights. Both Dixie and Delta have been winning their share of pre-season games from some of the top teams in the state. Delta won its game with Provo 38-25 during the week. Snow of Delta was the big gun with 18 counters. The Springville-Delta Springville-Delta game will be of particular interest here, inasmuch as the two teams played last year and the Delta club defeated the Devils. They have several of their main string back this year and are looking look-ing for a big year. Devils Win Two . . . Wednesday night the Red Devils handed the touted BY High team a 37-31 defeat behind the stellar playing of Binks, Gustin (who was high scorer), Weight and Jensen. Springville held a 22-13 lead at halftime, after getting off to a slow first quarter start. Jensen and Binks looked particularly good on the guard line, with both breaking break-ing into the score column with 9 and 8 points, respectively. Gustin and Weight did yoemen work under un-der the basket, both offensively and defensively, and the entire team showed better fighting spirit. Friday night, with Coach Paul Wilson home with a severe cold, Principal Paul Walker, himself an outstanding "has been" during his high school and college days coached the Springville team to a resounding 69-41 victory over a rugged North Sevier high school team from Salina. Sparked by the outstanding playing of elongated "Zip" Weight, who kept the hoop ringing to dunk in 22 points, the Devils took an early lead and held it throughout. Gustin, Gottfred-son Gottfred-son and Chapman also played well, keeping the score rolling up for the winners. Defensive chores, while somewhat weaker throughout through-out the fore part of the game, were tightened up in the latter part, and were handled ably by Binks, Jensen, Warren and Mack-ley. Mack-ley.
