Show HIGH SCHOOL HUSKIES Uli FOB PLACES Raw Material Is Gradually Being Be-ing Rounded Into Good' , Condition. ' Prospects for a spirited series of football games of the high school class were never better. The teams of the several high schools of Utah are now in the field and are resorting to strenuous stren-uous training in order to'be in condition condi-tion for the coming frays. The reason that spirited contests aro- expected is that several teams are exceptionally well matched'. . ! Tho Salt Lake high school, which has held tho championsnip of tho State for ten successive years, and which last year captured the championship of the Northwest, will have an almost entirely entire-ly new team to depend upon this season. sea-son. With tho exception of three men, the . eleven will bo new at the gamo and, as a whole, will probably be tho lightest that over represented the rod and black. The boys of tho school have been aware from tho first of the season that the test of tho high school strengLh will come this year and have entered into tho work with an earnestness earnest-ness which will most probably result in a good swift eleven. Twenty-five men are now out trying for the positions and among the number num-ber is some extra good material. Two squads are formed each afternoon and a spirited practice of about an hour and a half duration is gone through, after which the two teams aro lined up against each other for an hour in scrimmage work. During tho scrimmages, scrim-mages, Xr. Murphy, who is coaching tho boys this yearf keeps his eyes peeled for good material and he claims that ho has in sight eleven extra good S layers. Undor the now rules the back eld will require very quick and activo ' men and, judging from tho number of men who are lr3'ing out, three having these qualities can easily bo found. Thoso who nre working for the ..field positions po-sitions aro Hammond, White, Sancnc, Bichnrdson, Stcifel and Stephenson. All aro able playors and are working work-ing hard. The quarterback position is Deing contested for by Grant, Sheets and Stephens. Tho three are so evenly matched that it will bo a difficult matter mat-ter to make a election. Center i3 being be-ing worked., "fpr by Kimbajl, a very heavy 'man, "and a good, active player. Scotty Morris, who played center last season, will return to tho school next Wednesday, and says he will also try fpr center. It will bo a hard ficht between be-tween Jvimball and Morris. Kimball will have much tho advantago as to weight but Morris will havo -to. his credit a vcar's experience on tho team. Capfc. Vaught Paul is back at his old position. of (ackle and Jimmy Dunn, lastr'ye'ar 'B "end, will bo seen again In the samo position, unless he decides to try for fullback which" at -preseut seems improbable. The lino material is a very undecided matter at this time,, there being fully fifteen men contesting contest-ing for tho six positions. Thoso trying try-ing for the lino aro Roberts, Levy, Arnold, Home, Tomlinsou, Snow, Tib-bev. Tib-bev. Eckstein and Martiu. Tho schedulo of games for tho High school is slowly being framed up. It is almost certain that the Butte High school team will bo brought here for a gamo and thnt tho Salt Lakers will tako a trip to Pueblo. Nothing has been heard from Ogden, but it is probable prob-able that tho usual threo games will be played with thorn during the season. sea-son. All Hallows Sawing Wood. Tho All Hallows College team is also sawing wood and making hay whilo tho sun shines. "Under tho supervision of Coach Tobin, they aro rapidly rounding round-ing into condition. Thoso trying for tho various positions are: Center White; uards Donloy, Bhoaden aud Spiccr; tnckles Twohoy. Curran, Custer, Cus-ter, and Sullivan; ends Hays, Murphy, Prince, and Hoggan; quarterback Fitzmaurice, Wilsen, and Curlcy: backs McMurrin, Thomas, Quinn, Dolittlo and Boyle. Two games havo been arranged,, ar-ranged,, tho college team. On October Octo-ber 13, the huskies -will go to Poca-tcllo Poca-tcllo to play the High school of that, city.
