Show TWO DEATHS AT ASYLUM, Mrs. Amelia I. Kirby aud Arthur Pugh Pass Away. Special to Tho Tribune. PEOVO, Sept. 29. Mrs. Amelia I. Kirby, wife ot Albert Kirby of Hyde Park, Cache county, died at the Stato Mental hospital yesterday morning of exhaustion from sub-iicuto mania. Mrs. Kirby was 53 years old and was committed com-mitted from Cacho county. The remains re-mains will bo shipped to Hyde Park for burial. Arthur Pugh, aged 55, also died at the State Mental hospital yesterday. Mr. Pugh wiw a native of Wales, and was at ono time a member of tho Sueen's band.- Ho was committed from 'gdon, whero relatives now reside. The body will bo shipped lo Ogden for burial. There can bo no change of venue from pity justice's courts of tho State, in casoof prosocutious for violations vio-lations of tho city ordinances.1 ' Such is the holding of Judge Booth in tho District court. Tho question was raised in tho case of Provo City vs. A. H. DcLong. Defendant was prosecuted for tho offenso of battery under the city ordinance, and before tho commencement com-mencement of tho trial, filed an affidavit, affida-vit, iu tho usual form, asking for a change of venuo to somo other jjustiec. Justico Noon denied Iho application, holding that such could not bo had under tho law. The defendant appealed ap-pealed to tho District court, whero tho cause was argued beforo Judgo Booth by City Attorney Thomas for tho city aud Attorney Baglcy for the defendant, Friday afternoon. After tho argti: mcnt the court took tho matter under advisement until Saturday morning, when tho ruling as stated above was announced. Tho city officers aro much pleased with tho effect of tho decision. A convention of tho Utah county teachers was held toda' in the B. y. University. Teachers wero in attendance attend-ance from all the schools in the county, as well as thoso from tho Provo schools. |
