It developed,, upon tho arrival of tho 'varsity team at Taylorsville Saturday afternoon, that the announcement maHo early in the week by Manager Jocko Brown and Captain Fred Bennion that a gamo was to be played between the squad and an aggregation representing tho "Taylorsville Athletic cmb" was merely a means of springing a practical prac-tical joke. There is no such club in ox-istoncc. ox-istoncc. The idea of announcing that a gamo was to bo played was a ruse on tho part of Brown and Bennion to get the huskies, aud others who went along, to gather at tho home of Bennion in Taylorsvillo to attend a celebration of the twentvsecond auniversary of the birth of Frcddio or "Ferddie" Bennion. Ben-nion. Tho fifteen enthusiasts who accompanied ac-companied tho team did not enjoy the joke in the least, and they mado this iact known to tho "'varsity jester" in no uncertain terms. The ioke was appreciated ap-preciated by no one, but the perpetrators, perpetra-tors, and oven they folt that their action ac-tion was not in the least commendable. Provided Bennion and Brown are as successful in their respective positions of captain and manager of tho team during the coming season as they wero in tricking tho members of tho team uud tho public into believing that a contest was to be held at Taylorsville.
