Show NO MORE TOLLS TO PAT. Aiuorlcau Fork Canyon Road to 3e Thrown Open to Public. Special to Tho Tribune. AMERICAN FORK. Sept. 29. A Government forest reserve agent, while hero yesterday, announced that tho American Fork canyon toll road would be thrown open to tho public, making it possiblo for them to uso it without the pavmeut of tho usual lolls, which is at tho rate of fifty couts per team. The road has been operated as a toll road for tho past twenty-live years, and was controlled by a compauy of local people, who lost thoir rights lo collect toll without being consulted in the mat-tor. mat-tor. Tho district through which tho road runs was recently mado a part of tho ncwly-mado forest resorvo. In commenting upon tho opening of Iho road Iho agent stated that tho operators ope-rators wero not giving Iho road tho attention at-tention duo from them, in consideration of tho amount of toll which they were charging and as a result the road was getting in poor shapo for the amount of travel that it received. This road bears tho distinction of being the only road that was operated as a loll road in the Slate. Just what action, if any, will bo taken by tho owners of tho road is not known. However, it is thought lhey will not let it go without an effort to rotain it. |
