Show FORMER RESIDENT DIED THURSDAY AT HOME OF SON Funeral services were conducted in the Third ward chapel Sunday afternoon for Axel Nielson, 88, of Manti, who died Thursday evening eve-ning at the home of his son, Peter Nielson, in this city. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by A. T. Wheeler Wheel-er and Son Mortuary. , Mr. Nielson was born in Denmark Den-mark March 20, 1858, and served as an officer in the Danish army before coming to this country as a convert to the L.DjS. church. Upon arriving in Utah in 1884, he setyed in Elsinore, Sevier county, and operated a flour mill there, also at Loa, Richfield, and Springfield, Spring-field, in later , years. He had been active in church affairs and had served three missions, mis-sions, one to Great Britain, one to the Southern states, and a short term in the Western v states. He married Ami Sophia Larson in 1879. She" died in Springville in 1930 and he later married Mrs. Karen Christensen of Manti and had made his home in that city until his last illness. He is survived by two sons, Peter Pet-er Nielson, Springville, and Victor Nielson, Los Angeles, Calif., also thirteen grandchcildren and thirteen thir-teen great-grandchildren. |
