Show BUILDERS URGED TO READ NEW CITY ORDINANCE Mayor Points to Violations Of Ordinance In Regard To New Buildings In City Every person who plans building build-ing a new home or other type of structure, should go over the recently re-cently adopted city zoning ordinance, ordi-nance, accrding to Mayor Glenn W. Sumsion, who stated Wednesday Wednes-day that a number of home builders build-ers are unknowingly violating the ordinance in many respects. It is necessary for anyone who plans a building, to bring the plans and specifications to the city hall to secure a permit. There are certain cer-tain regulations concerning the building that must be followed and if buildings are started with disregard dis-regard to these regulations, owners will run into considerable trouble, it is stated. Before a home-owner moves into his home, he must se-ure se-ure an occupancy permit which is given following an inspection of the building. The new zoning ordinance sets forth regulations as to the size of the building lot, and also in regard to many other details which have been worked out for the best interests inter-ests of the city as a whole and of property owners, the mayor pointed out. He further stated that in the future the city building inspector will not make a canvass of the city to determine who has started a building without a permit, but in case a builder does begin without with-out a permit, he will be cited as violating the city ordinance. The zoning ordinance as pointed out previously, was passed for the protection of all home owners and as a benefit to the city as a whole, and uriless the rgeulations are observed, ob-served, the time and effort spent in formulating the ordinance will have been in vain. . A copy of the ordinance may be secured free of charge at the city hall and if there are other questions ques-tions regarding building regulations, regula-tions, city officials will be happy to explain them, the mayor said. |
