Because of the development of new evidence in connection con-nection with the death of J. F. Morrow, Mor-row, whose body was found hanging by a log chain in a barn here on May 13, B. F. According to the report of Chemist Harms, the stomach of Morrow was empty of food and bad the appearance of having been emptied hy vomiting, possibly pos-sibly Induced by an overdose of poison administered with suicidal or murderous intent. At the present time Crompton Is believed to be. somewhere in Idaho. Tel-i Tel-i egraph messages have set officers . throughout the state looking for him. A late report tonight from Le Grande, Ore., was to the effect that a man answering ! to his description had been seen there , recently, it is not believed that it can ! be Crompton, however, as he is said to I liave been seen and recognized in Cald-: Cald-: well, Idaho, on May 2-9. At the time of his arrest Crompton tried to prove an alibi by showing that at the time of the murder he visited a butcher shop in North Salt Lake and purchased meat. Now it -hfls occurred to the investigating officials that he might have purchased the meat a day earlier than he alleged with the purpose of poisoning pois-oning it, as the bill of purchase was not found on the files in the butcher shop. County Attorney E. C. Robinson said i last night that should Crompton be lo-, lo-, cated outside of the state measures would be immediately taken to secure : his extradition that he might be brought : back to face possible trial on a charge j of murdering Morrow, once adjudged a suicide. |
