Every citizen of the state is cordially invited. MODERN in every respect, artistically artis-tically designed and splendidly constructed, located upon a beautiful and commanding site, commodious enough to meet every want of designated functions for the institution for years to come, the if cm-administration cm-administration building of the University Univer-sity of Utah will be thrown open to the public for inspection from 2 until j o'clock this afternoon. Every citizen of Utah is cordially invited in-vited to be present and note for "himself "him-self what has been done toward bringing bring-ing the school facilities to the highest' standard of cfticieuv. While it is not expected that every Ltahn will be able to attend, it is confidently anticipated bv the board of regents and faculty that no fewer than M0J000 will take advantage of the opportunity to visit a structure that is in truth the pride of those connected with its construe-! tion and a model of convenience and beauty. Governor to Attend. Governor Spry, the board of regents, the faculty and hundreds of students will be on the campus this afternoon to welcome all visitors for whose entertainment en-tertainment special preparations have been made. There will be one baud on the university campus and another inside the new building; likewise there will be student guides in abundance to explai n details of construction and escort es-cort the visitors through the big building. build-ing. The new administration building has been erected during the past fifteen months and will, when completely equipped, represent an outlay of approximated ap-proximated $o00,000. The necessary appropriat ion was secured from the 19 Kl legislature, largely through the efforts of Governor Spry and the board of regents. Cannon & Fetzer of this city, with R. Fa n sen. associated architects, archi-tects, and P. -T. Moran. contractor, successfully suc-cessfully carried out the big undertaking. under-taking. At the main entrance the observer is confronted by an imposing and beautiful beau-tiful corridor of Alaska marble and the great seal of the university is worked out in the tile floor of the main hallway. Two commemorative bronze, tablets", one to contain the names of the governor and university officials establishing es-tablishing the scliool, the other those of the governor and officials under whose, direction the building has been completed are to be placed in the entrance en-trance vestibule. For the head of every department of the university the new building ha? attractive, well arranged, well lighted rpmrters. There is also an art room, a specially constructed music room, an archaelogical museum, special locker rooms for both boy and girl Htudents, every modern convenience to add to the health and comfort of both professors profes-sors and students'. Big Ventilating Plant. One of the notable features is a ventilating ven-tilating plant, which not only cools or heats the air ' as may be required according ac-cording to the season of the year, but also cleanses the atmosphere permitted to entrr the rooms from all dust and smoke. There are refreshment rooms and a well-equipped kitchen to be used on occasions when refreshments are to be served. Taken in its entirety, the building and furnishings represent enterprise, courage, foresight and ability on the part of the state and school officials who have labored faithfully for its completion. |
