YOUNG WOMAN WHO ESCAPES GOES MAD Policeman Patrolling Beach Startled by Apparition ; How She Managed to Reach Shore Is Mystery. By International News Service. QUEBEC, June 1. Eighty-nine bodies of the 1SS victims brought here from the Empress of Ireland wreck yesterday were unclaimed when the improvised im-provised morgue on the pier at Princess slip closed its doors tonight. Fifty-one were identified today, three more than were claimed Sunday. Some of them were claimed many times over. Some were first claimed and then rejected re-jected as the claimants changed their minds. Others are in doubt, relatives believing that they recognize the features, yet hesitating to commit themselves in fear of a mistake. As the work of identification proceeds pro-ceeds it is becoming more and more difficult dif-ficult for bereaved searchers to recog-: nize their relatives. Disputes were fre-! quent today, and as a result of the coil-' fusion the authorities are by no means certain that they did not act too j hastily yesterday. |
