Show GOOD FOR WYOMING. Of recent years so many geniuses and inventors have developed themselves in this part of tiie United States that whenever an invention or discovery is announced as having been made by a w estern mar. and is claimed to surpass anything ever before thought of and jts application in science, mechanics, or whatever it may be, will astonish the world, the assertion is generally believed be-lieved implicity, for the simple reason that the public have not been disap pointed as yet. It in for this reason that we read the following from the Evanston Register with a certain amount of confidence and place it before be-fore our readers as an item ot news. We hope that the invention proves to be all that it promises. Ry the courtesy of Hon W. T. Shaf ke n our county treasurer, we wer shov. n iu his office the other day an in vention that promises to startle the world and completely revolutionize n lway locomotion. It is nothing less than the model of a railway car and a'nd roailway of entirely novel design, which" aims to obviate alto gether or reduce to a minimum the risks of railway tiavel and solve forever the problem of rapid transit. It is impossible impos-sible to conceive that a train Could be derailed or that stock or obstructions of anv kind could get upon the track, while the speed that cou'.d be safely attained at-tained would as far exceed the presont rate of travel as the "lightning ex press" surpasses the coach-and four. Mr. Shaffkk has worked upon this invention in-vention for a long time ami this week completed his model, had it photographed photo-graphed bv Photographer Baker and has sent it to Washingtsn to he patented. pat-ented. Of course we are not at liberty to give details or even suggestions as to the ideas embodied in this novel invention, in-vention, but we venture to say that it w ill startle the inventors of the world and create such a commotion in railway rail-way circles as the century has not seen. |
