Show Cedar City Navy Man Gets Taste Of Infantry Duty San Diego, Calif., June 22 A Cedar City man was among a small group of amphibious force sailers who received a taste of infantry line in the front lines in Korea recently. He is Dixon C. Parry, gunner's mate third class, husband of Mrs. Dixon C. Parry, Cedar City. Dixon and other bluejackets from his ship, the tank landing ship USS LST 1089, became soldiers sold-iers for a day with troops of the Third Division fighting in the Inchon-Seoul area. While the Navy men sampled Army life with its dust, mud and field rations, an equal number of Third Division infantrymen enjoyed the relative comfort of duty aboard a combatant ship. The exchange program is being sponsored by Army and Navy commanders in the Korean theatre the-atre to allow their men to experience ex-perience at first hand the problem prob-lem of comrades in other services. |
