Al though these feeler come with much skepticism any suggestion ! of cease lighting has ).o;ie aim encouragement to us all. i I presume I should not eeni vaguely mention an thing relative rela-tive to the war because you're the fellows doing tho job and know the score Irom the aotuai scene of action. We do v. ant you to know that most of the time, though we haven't any immediate immedi-ate kin in action, we're thinking of you and the oulsanding job you are doing. Those of us who live on Main street from Monday morning 'till Saturday night miss you bobbing in and out of the various business busi-ness houses. You're really missed in most of the activities of the community. When you come back home you'll see the old Main street with a new face. Everything new, sidewalks, curb and gutter, street and street lighting fixtures. When this is completed, and it looks like a couple or three more weeks will finish it, we hope the new fresh appearance will sham? us out to the extent that we will freshen up our own individual business fronts. The cement work down town will be completed early this week; In about ten days the surfacing of the street will commence and subsequently subsequent-ly with the other improvements we hope that the many tourists who come to visit the parks will remember something about Cedar Ce-dar City. These fellows who are running the show, that is the mayor, tho city dads and the city manager really have their hands full tiieso days. Taking care of a city with growing pains is no small Job and believe me Cedar City is one in this category. Our civic appetites don't diminish. di-minish. Most of us want better sidewalks and streets, better playgrounds for our kids, more water, a new up-to-the-minute library and a dozen other things but it cramps our style when the bills are due and have to be paid. I think I can report to you that our fair city is keeping abreast with the times and we do improve. It will be but a short time now when the new big water storage tank located on the hill at the northeast part of town will be completed. This with the new canyon well delivering some additional water to the system should not leave us too thirsty jthis summer. City officials are: I presently workin;; on a program j , to oil most of the streets though there are many hurdles to get over before this can be accomplished. accom-plished. Each year a few thousand thou-sand dollars come to communities communi-ties in the state from a B and C road fund, only enough to do h small segment at a time. Southern Utah's recreational parks and scenic centers are now open, inviting the world to come and enjoy them. The Union Pacific Pa-cific is on its summer run into Cedar and Utah Parks company is conducting its regular tours. We who live on Main street most of the time always miss the faces of the students of the schoob when vacation time comes but they are replaced by the ever passing strange faces who come to peek at the beauties of this area. It's my understanding from an unauthentic source that travel in Southern Utah so far this season sea-son tops them all. Good luck to you fellows wherever you are. Anyone who has always been on the right side. We're hoping with you for an early return home. Sincerely, L. N. MARSDELV. |
