Professor Lauds Cedar City for Art Incentive Members of the local Lions club heard Cedar City and southern south-ern Utah praised for the fine art shows held here and for the natural na-tural scenic beauty in the area, when George Smith Dibble, assistant as-sistant professor of art nt the University of Utah, spoke at the club's weekly luncheon meeting Monday in El Escalante Hotel. Prof. Dibble, a member of the Branch Agricultural college summer sum-mer faculty, told the Lions that Cedar City has every right to be-come be-come a center for creative art because be-cause of the inspiration found here in the natural scenic beauty. He went on to say that Cedar City and the southern part of Utah has more to offer the students stu-dents of painting, writing and music than most areas of the county. He also urged that a program be developed which would prompt personalities in the field of art to come to Cedar City. Also appearing on the program was Glen Seegmiller, principal of Delta high school, and also a member of the BAC summer school faculty. He told the Lions of the handicraft possibilities in this area, by making use of clay, stones and other materials found locally. ' |
