Show Hurricane Miss Audrey Ballard Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Milton Beck of Salt Lake City accompanied by Mrs. Agatha McAllister of St. George visited at the Irving Isom home Friday. They also visited with Principal and Mrs. Maurice Nuttall. Both Mr. and Mrs. Beck were teachers under Mr. Nuttall at Overton. After several days stay with parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Jep-son, Jep-son, Mrs. Violate Smith returned to Salt Lake City on Tuesday. The Misses Phyllis Perry and LaVerne Jones accompanied Miss Lena' Besendorfer of St. George to Los Angeles over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Iverson of Panaca returned home Wednesday after having visited with the Lorenzo Spendlove family. Mrs. Lorraine Stratton and infant daughter returned with them for a short visit. Mrs. Ella Beattrick of Caliente was a guest at the Clove Walker home last week. Mrs. Thomas Isom entertained the Jolly Stitchers club last Friday. Fri-day. Kenneth Isom visited here Monday Mon-day and Tuesday from Sun Valley, Idaho, where he has employment. The M.I.A. of the two wards combined on Tuesday for their closing social. There was a pro gram which lasted an hour. It was presented in the form of an amateur hour with Earl Spendlove Spend-love acting as Major Bowles. The same program, Clayton Stout, Y.M.M.I.A. president, announced will be presented over radio station sta-tion K.S.U.B. with the very near future. Miss Pearl Baker left last Thursday for Provo where she entered the Tennis invitational meet contesting for Junior companionship. com-panionship. No word has been received as yet to her success. Miss Baker was awarded the companionship for 1939-40 as a representative of Millard high school. Mrs. Karl Larson was hostess to the Alice Louise Reynolds club on Friday with Mrs. Doris Barber as co-hostess. Mrs. Inez Burgener and Mrs. Martha Englestead re viewed the book and biography. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Englestead Engle-stead left Wednesday for Phoenix, Ariz, where they will spend several days. Miss Shirley Spendlove has employment em-ployment at the Iron county office of-fice in Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Garth Sandberg and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Snow were hosts at an outdoor party on Monday. Announcements are that the strawberries are ready to harvest. Many farmers report the crops this spring are very light because be-cause of blight and bugs. Glenn Williams has begun construction con-struction of a service station located lo-cated on the highway and connected con-nected directly to his cabins. Mr. and Mrs. 'Dean Clark went to Salt Lake City Sunday expecting expect-ing to stay for a while. Hurricane is undergoing a series of repairs this week. New street lights are being set up and several streets are being rebuilt by local laborers. Members of the Bench Lake Boosters announce that since the pump has been installed and operating, the crops of grain are thriving very nicely. It is estimated esti-mated that the harvest will net at least 2,000 bushels of grain. |
