Show Dixie To Send Team To Region 6 Track And Field Meet At Fillmore Saturday, May 4th The Region 6 high school track and field meet will be held at Fillmore Saturday, May 4, with 12 high schools participating. Dixie will send a team, but chances for a high pointage are not bright. Coach Tolman is staking stak-ing his relay team of Pitchforth, Fawcett, Cox, and Prince to do well, however. Delta is predicted to win this meet. The state high school meet will be held May 10 and the Junior college intermountain meet May 11. Both events will be in Salt Lake. Dixie staged and invitational track meet last Thursday for high schools of this section. It is hoped to make this an annual affair. Virgin Valley high romped off I with honors, scoring 98 points. j Hurricane was second with 51 points, followed by Dixie with 43 points. The Woodward scored 16 and Enterprise 12. Dixie scorers were: Shotput, Porter third; 100 yard dash, Pitch-forth, Pitch-forth, second; 440, Gubler second; high jump, Stirling second; 880, Milne third; 220, Pitchforth first; broad jump, Stirling second; javelin, jave-lin, Porter third; medley relay, Dixie second; 880 relay, Dixie first with Fawcett, Cox, Stirling and Pitchforth. Douglas Prince, star sprinter, was out of the meet because of injuries. Five college men entered the B.Y.U. invitational meet last Saturday. |
