Show Traffic School For County Justices Of The Peace Declared 'Very Successful' By Backers Declaring that they were "pleased with the results obtained" at the Precinct Justice's traffic school held here on last Friday, officials went on record as favoring a similar school in the future when the need arises. The school was sponsored by the county commissioners commis-sioners with the various Justice's of the Peace of the county being brought here for instruction. It is believed to be the first of its kind ever held in this state. Speakers at the school included Newell R. Frei, chairman of the county commissioners; Sheriff A. B. Prince, State Patrolman Marion Snow and County Attorney Orval Hafen. These speakers addressed the group on problems coming within their scope of enforcement in the county. They also advised the Justices on how to handle the various problems that might arise. Mock court sessions were held showing how cases should and should not be held. A period was given over for a general discussion and the asking of questions by the group. Safety Meeting A 'Safety Meeting' was held in the evening in the Woodward high. Newell R. Frei, representative representa-tive of Washington county on the State Safety Council, was in charge of the meeting. Those who spoke on the program pro-gram included L. R. Simpson, executive secretary of the state safety council and W. B. Hammond, chairman of the state road commission. com-mission. Mr. Hammond stressed the fact that, "young and old drivers and walkers must be impressed with safety and above all must practice prac-tice it". Mr. Groo declared that, "This job is to big for any one man alone to handle", and asked for the cooperation of the people of the state. Following the talks the meeting was thrown open for discussion with questions being asked regarding re-garding the information that had been presented. |
