Show Margaret A. Holyoak, 100, active Church Worker dies; honored at services Margaret Alice Robinson Holyoak, 100, died Feb 8, 1978 ai her home in Parowan. Born June 29, 1877 in Paragonah, to John Rowlandson and Emma Scholfield Robinson. Married Thomas Knott Holyoak June 21, 1904 in the St. George Temple. He died April 15, 1963. Alice was a honiemaker and an active member of the LUS Church. She spent her childhood and early life in Paragonah and her married life in Parowan. She attended Paragonah grade school and the Beaver Academy. She was a Sunday School and a Relief Society Visiting Teacher, worked on the Genealogical Committee Com-mittee and served a temple mission to the St. George Temple for three years. She was Parowan's oldest citizen. She is survived by two sons and four daughters, Alice H. Barton, Thomas Vern Holyoak, G. Roland Holyoak and Emma H. Mortensen all from Parowan, Beth H. Clark and Hilda H. Grimshaw both from Cedar City. One son, John R. Holyoak, proceeded her in death. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, and a sister Lula R. Bastian of Paragonah. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 11, 1978 at 1:00 p.m. in the Parowan First, Second LDS Ward Chapel. The family prayer was offered by Ronald Green with June Decker playing the prelude and postlude music and Bishop Glen Halterman conducting. The invocation was offered by Vern Grimshaw followed by the Ward Choir singing "One S weetly Solemn Thought" followed by a history by Emma Dalton. A tribute was then given by Margaret B. Hall from the Grandchildren followed by a song "I am a Child of God" by the great grandchildren. grand-children. The speaker was Bishop Dale M. Holyoak with remarks by Bishop Glen Halterman. The Ward choir then sang "Abide with me tis Eventide" with Dean Cottom giving the Benediction and Vern Holyoak dedicating the grave. Interment was in the Parowan City Cementery under the direction of the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary. |
