Show Bids due for new Enoch school Plans have been completed and a call for bids has been issued for Iron County's newest Elementary School to be located in Enoch. Bids on the new Elementary School complex will be opened at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, and it is anticipated that the facility will be completed and ready for occupancy for the beginning of the 1979-80 school year, according to Dr. J. Clair Morris, Superintendent of the Iron County School District. "Enrollment statistics indicate that the Enoch Elementary will be near capacity at the time of completion in the fall of 1979," Dr. Morris stated. "Within two years after the building is completed it will be inadequate in size. The building is designed for an addition in the future. However, it cannot be increased in size at the present time due to the fact that increased in-creased funding is just not available," the superintendent noted. Statistics Pre-school census statistics gathered as of October 31, 1977, indicate in-dicate that the Enoch Elementary attendance area is increasing in size faster than any other elementary attendance area in the district except the North Elementary. Preschool statistics further identify 91 children less than one year old in the Enoch Elementary attendance area. Much planning and preparation have gone into the development of the proposed new Enoch Elementary," Superintendent Morris said. Agency Checks Plans for the Enoch Elementary School have been approved by the . State Fire Marshall, the State Board of Health, the State Building Board, and the State Board of Education. The Iron County School District is a subdivision of the State of Utah and thereby must have major building projects such as the Enoch Elementary School approved by State agencies. Signatures from all four of the above agencies appear on the cover page of the finalized set of plans. The State Fire Marshall's office checks the building plans for exits, fire retardant materials, water pressure, etc. The Enoch Elementary (continued on page 3) is Enoch school continued from page 1) The State Board of Health checked the plans for the sewage drainage system and a letter was received from that agency approving the plans. Standards for a deep-well with a protective shield, such as Cedar Corporation's Enoch well, require protection for 100 feet from the well. The Enoch Elementary's The Enoch Elementary's sewage drainage system is located approximately three-fourths of a mile from Cedar Corporation's Enoch well. The State Board of Education checked and approved the plans for educational adequacy. Prior to submission of the Enoch School plans to the state agencies, Iron District personnel worked with study committees comprised of representatives from all parts of Iron County for public input on the school. The Enoch School site was ap- proved by the Iron Board of Education as recommended by the site selection advisory committee. Nineteen of twenty-one members present to the last site selection committee meeting voted to recommend the Enoch site. is located within the boundaries of Enoch Corporation and water will be supplied by Enoch City. The water pressure is estimated by engineers to be 80 pounds at the school site, far in excess of requirements for fire protection. Water System Enoch Corporation is just completing com-pleting a new water tank located by I-15 I-15 which will supply gravity pressure water for the new school. The building is further protected by a loop-around water system for fire protection. The State Fire Marshall's signature appears ap-pears on the building plans. The State Building Board checks plans to see that they meet federal regulations for the handicapped and that regulations are met regarding energy conservation standards.
