Cedar City police extended special certificate of merit to Roy Houchen center. On hand for the presentation was Cedar City Police Chief Douglas Bolton, left and City Councilman Arlo Larsen. Police Dept. honors Roy Houchen The Cedar City Police Department gave officer Roy Houchen a certificate cer-tificate of merit in ceremonies this week, in response to favorable public input commending Houchen's work. Houchen was cited for his efficient handling of a recent break-in at the Cedar Junior High. City officials received a letter from the supervisor of the junior high bookstore which noted the work accomplished by Houchen. Cedar Police Chief Douglas Bolton describes the four year veteran of the local force as a "meticulous" officer. Bolton said Houchen often puts in 10- 14 hours a day, "without a complaint." com-plaint." "He is an outstanding officer," Bolton said. "He has stopped several burglaries in progress during his short career with us, and many officers of-ficers can't say that about their whole career.1" In the letter to Chief Bolton, Houchen and his partner during the evening of the break-in, Bruch Marshall, were described as very professional, "and the solving of the case was handled very professionally and in a very courteous efficient manner." |
