Show REAL ESTATE AND FINANCE A Rush for Small Farms Money Getting L Get-ting Cheaper This is the season of the year when that portion of the population who 1 ve in other peoples houses are skirmishing around in search of more desirable dwellings dwell-ings and a little infvtrmation orr real State S-tate matters will be read with interest A DEMOCRAT reporter this morning called at the office of Messrs White Smith who in real probably do as heavy a business estate and money loaning as any similar firm in the city Mr Smith the erstwhile erst-while active and rustling member of the firm was helplessly reclining in an easy chair being temporarily disabled by a severely sprained ankle and discovering the victim was entirely at his mercy the reporter quizzed him most relentlessly The real estate business is much brighter said Mr Smith Probably the greatest demand we have now is for country property Small farms of ten acres or so sell quite readily and property I prop-erty southeast of the city seems to be given the preference Small city properties prop-erties also are in good demand the greatest great-est call being for houses within a radius of five blocks from the Wasatch corner How about prices Well they are a little firmer than they were during the winter but are still 20 per cent lower than they were a year ago S U Are rents still on the drop No there is an improvement in rents for small residences but large properties are a drug and are very low Small cottage cot-tage dwellings are in greatest demand How is the money market Money is much easier than it i Mas a short time ago and we are making a great many loans at one per cent Just aftertime after-time polygamy prosecutions commenced money became very tight and quite a scare was created One and a half per cent could be secured very readily then but confidence seems to have been restored re-stored and as a consequence money is more plentiful |
