Show ± r s 1IiW i I Stealing Public Property JOseph Davis charged with stealing 1 public property was brought into the District Court for trial this morning The indictment was found by the Grand Jury of the April term 1884 and charges Davis with stealing a Winchester rifle from a penitentiary guard in October Oc-tober 1883 S H Lewis appeared for the defence and Mr Dickson prosocuted The following fol-lowing jurors were impaneled Goo F Felt Thos McClelland Robt L Deigh ton Walter S Crismon G W Walton I John D Spencer A J Pendleton John W Mecham Robert H Wheeler W H Knox J D Van Tassell Joseph R Matthews The following witnesses were examined by the prpsecution l John G Williams Win Bryant Chas E McConnell Mc-Connell E A Ireland The defendant was then allowed to tell his own tale and the case was argued and submitted to the jury who immediately returned a verdict of guilty as charged in the indictment indict-ment Thursday was set for sentences |
