Show Hitiiel Enforcement Of City Parking Hole Set Enforcement of the two hour parking; preparation of a special spe-cial improvement district; approval ap-proval of police and firemen personnel to attend schools and various other routine matters of business consumed the time of the last regular Roosevelt City Council meeting on Monday Mon-day evening. According to Mayor Paul Murphy, the police department has been instructed to enforce two hour parking on Main St. from Phillips Motel on the south to the Labrum and Adams Motor Co. corner, north, and Lagoon Street from Fredrick-son Fredrick-son Garage on the west, to McKinlay Motor On the east. Cars will be marked and those violating the 2-hour law will be cited into justice court by being issued a ticket. The local judge has been instructed to be lenient on out of city visitors, especially those bearing out-of-state licenses, and those who have come from nearby farms and communities to shop. "Of course the chronic violator who lives out of town will be judged according to the persis-tance persis-tance of the violation, and we are especially hopeful the merchant and his employees will observe this rule, because there will be no recourse except ex-cept an overparking ticket and a fine on him," Mayor Murray said. "There has been considerable talk in council and Chamber of Commerce meetings about the possibility of parking meters, met-ers, and if the merchant won't operate in the enforcement of the 2-hour parking, then meters, which are considered undesirable, undesir-able, might be the answer," the mayor specified. Temporary Tempor-ary police appointments will be made for the day while all three marshals are at school. Approval was given by the city council for four members of the fire department to attend at-tend a school in Salt Lake City on June 17-19. The group will select their representatives. The street committee was instructed in-structed to make definite plans for a special improvement district, dis-trict, calling for curb, gutter and sidewalks. A mass meeting of property owners concerned will be called in the near future fu-ture to get their reactions. |
