Show Gougars Trounce Cyprus 45-39; Lleet S.S. Tonight It took a dramatic finish for the Cougars of Union High School to beat a tough Cyprus team Wednesday noon and advance ad-vance to the second round of play in the annual Utah High School Class "B" basketball tournament, but they did it as they routed the Pirates from Magna 45-39, after trailing 24-15 at the end of the first half. The Cougars were relatively cold from the field, but their adeptness from the charity line overcame their weakness to make field goals as they sank 29 out of 42 foul pitches. Little Johnny Benson with 2 from the field and 9 out of 14 from the foul line accounted for 13 points followed by Doyle Huber, who hit 4 from outside and 2 for 2 free throws to lead the Cougars in" their win over a stuborn Cyprus High team from Magna who lead them at the half and the third quarter. The Pirates made 11 out of 12 foul pitches while racking up 14 to 8 field goals over Union. By virtue of their Wednesday - (Continued on back page) Union Wins . . . (Continued from page 1) noon win, the Cougars advance to the second round of play and will meet an-always-tough South Sevier team from Monroe at 7:20 this evening. A win over the Rams will assure the Cougars Cou-gars a place in the last two days, ana give tnem a line - chance for higher honors. And if those Cougars get hot from the field, as they are capable of. it'll take a lot of basketball playing to stop them short of a try for the Class "B" title.
