Show Dairy Barn Burns A dairy barn burned to the ground Friday night on the Heaton farm located north of Mt. Emmons. Em-mons. The- blaze, probably caused by an overheated stovepipe in the attic, was discovered by LaVoy and Wilson Heaton about 11 p.m. before it had gotten much of a start. A group of men gathered to help put out the blaze, but were unable to do so because of an insufficient in-sufficient water supply. Most of the equipment was removed, however, how-ever, including' doors "and windows i that were removable. The fire burned most of the night and destroyed from 500 to 600 lbs. of grain, the hot water heater, milk cooler and stanchions. DUP ENJOYS MEETING A meeting of the Altonah Chapter Chap-ter of the' Daughters of the Utah Pioneers was held Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Olive Miles in Mt. Emmons. Mrs, Frances Allred read a history to the group of her great-grandfather, Wm. Thacker. The members worked on papeTS and enjoyed a luncheon of cocoa, meat pies and raspberry chiffon , pie. Co-hostess with Mrs. Miles was Mrs. Clara Young. The winners of the chapter Jack Rabbit Hunt contest were Altonah, Mt. Home and Talmage FFA members mem-bers who brought in 216 rabbits. The losing side' netted only 72. The losers: Altamont, ' Mt. Emmons, Em-mons, Bluebell, Upalco and Bon-eta Bon-eta boys will give the sharpshooters sharpshoot-ers a party soon. |
