Show Obituarties GEORGE W. CONETAH Funeral services for George Washington Conetah were held heki Wednesday a 11 a.m. in the Myton Presbyterian church. Rev. Howard Allen of Whiterocks Episcopal Epis-copal church conducted' the services. ser-vices. Prelude and Postl.ude music was rendered by Mrs. O. A. Dart, while special vocal selections were by Mrs. Arthur Brian with accompaniment accom-paniment by Mrs. Dart, Burial was in the Myton City Cemetery where tribal rite's were performed, with dedication of the grave by Mr. Allen. Interment was under the direction of Olpin Mortuary. Surviving are his father, Edward Conetah; his mother, Mary AWce Conetah Savage and his step-father, Charlie Savage, all of Myton; one sister, Mrs. Helen White, Ship-rock, Ship-rock, N. M.; two brothers. Fred Conetah and Paul LoneBear, of Myton. JACK JOHNSON Jack Johnson, 81, died Thursday Thurs-day about 11 a.m. at the ranch home of his son, Oscar, east of Myton. He was bom in 1874 in Ignacio, Colo., a son of Johnson and Tuweiss Smith Johnson. He married Mary Ann Johnson, who was known to her many friends as "Oats." She died several years ago. He was one of the older members of the Ute Tribe in this district. The deceased was well known and popular with both Indian and white friends, having made his home here for many years. An industrious in-dustrious man, he was interested in his farm and stock raising and since the death of his wife had made his home with his son, Oscar Johnson, the only surviving member mem-ber of his family Funeral services were held Monday Mon-day at 11 a.m. at the Myton LDS ward chapel with Forrest Goodrich, Good-rich, president of the Indian mission mis-sion from Tridell', in charge'. Invocation In-vocation was by 'Syerl Dennis; vocal vo-cal numbers were rendered, solo, by Earl Gardner;, trio, Mrs. Syerl Dennis, Mrs. Lorin Ross and Mrs. Milton Nielsen; quartet, Owen Burgess, Lionel Babcock, Frank Liddell and Merrill Chandler; Oscar Os-car Johnson, son of the deceased, gave a brief address in his native tongue, and thanked everyone for their kindness. This was translated by Mrs, Juanita Groves. Speakers were Pres. Goodrich and Duane McKee and benediction by Lorin Ross. " Interment was in the Myton City Cemetery, where tribal rites were performed and the grave dedicated Burial was under the direction of Olpin Mortuary. Pallbearers were Jim Wash, Jonas Wash, Pete' Mt. Sheep, Leo Perang, Fred Conetah and Guy Pinnecoose. Mrs. A. C. Tolboe returned' on Thursday evening from Provo, where she visited a few days at the home of her sister, Mrs.- Frances Fran-ces Bullock. ENTERTAINED CLUB Mrs. P. E. Church entertained at a dessert luncheon Friday afternoon after-noon with the following members of her bridge club present: Mrs. Floyd Lamb, Miss Alice Todd, Mrs. Wesley Jenson, Mrs. W. H. Linck, Mrs. James Dalgleish, Mrs. A.. C. Tolboe and Mrs. Rex Lamb. Bridge was enjoyed during the afternoon with high score prize awarded to Mrs. Dalgleish. Mr. and Mrs. Atha Nance and daughter, of Salem, Utah, were visitors from Wednesday 'till Saturday Sat-urday at the homes of Mrs. Nance's brothers and sister, Mrs. Morrill. Syerl Dennis returned Wednesday Wednes-day from Salt Lake City, whej? he spent a few days receiving medical med-ical attention. He expects to be sufficiently recovered by March 15 to return to Salt Lake for surgery. sur-gery. . Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Allen and Mrs. Syerl Dennis went to Salt Lake City last week. The ladies returned after a day of shopping and visiting, bringing Mr. Dennis home. Mr. Allen remained to transact business related to the Duchesne' County School Board, of which he is a member. The people of Myton are showing show-ing interest in the American Legion Leg-ion drive to raise funds, as is attested at-tested by the' nice offering from W.. E. Broome. An attractive step-table, step-table, handiwork of Mr. Broome, is being offered as a prize by the Legion and is on display at the Tolboe Market with tickets at 250 each. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Massie of Ft. Duchesne were visitors Satur-day Satur-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Church. |
