Show (3asuallj By Cliff Memmott IF ALL OUR CUSTOMERS would adopt the same policy one professional pro-fessional man, E.. P. Thomas, has done in Roosevelt, we'd soon be out of the statement printing business busi-ness pronto quick. . . For five years and six months Mr. Thomas has been running a professional card in our paper, and never once has our bookkeeper had to make out and mail a statement to Mr. Thomas. Of course Arvin Bellon down at Uncle Sam's post office would also lose a bit of postage stamp revenue. . . Imagine sixty-six sixty-six months and not having ' to make out a statement. This customer cus-tomer has next month's advertising advertis-ing bill all taken care of at least two weeks in advance. , ,- - c o - - A mistake is at least proof that someone was trying to accomplish something. --co--NOTICE WHERE THERE is more hope and activity for getting get-ting water on Blue Bench. . . Peeping back through the files of the Uintah Basin Record. I noticed numerous news items that discussed "Water for Blue Bench." The latest idea make's sense and knowing some of the men backing the idea, I'd say, "This Could Easily Be It." - - c o - - The best way to ' relieve the monotony of a job is to think of ways of improving it. '--co-- THEY SAY AN HONEST confession con-fession is good for the soul, but sometimes hard on the reputation. . . And I must confess I am just about as impatient a cuss as they come, especially when I pick up the telephone to make a quick call. . . However. I'd like to throw a generous bouquet of orchids or-chids to the telephone operators in the Roosevelt office. . . I'm sure from Tuesday morning 'till Thursday Thurs-day afternoon, there isn't a phone used more than the ones in our office. . . And we do appreciate the fine cooperation and service these girls give us. . . I'm sure if we'd all stop and wonder how many other people' are trying at this very moment to get a number, num-ber, when we pick up the phone to hear "Number Please," we'd be a bit more calm and realize that the girl' on the switch board is not deliberately making us wait because she doesn't like us. - - c o - -Humility leads' to strength. It is the highest form of self respect re-spect to admit mistakes, and make amends for them. - - c o - - HOW MANY OF YOU Dads and Moms who have a boy playing basketball on one of the Kiwanis-sponsored Kiwanis-sponsored kids' basketball teams that is playing in the Ute Tribe-Kiwanis Tribe-Kiwanis Kids' league, have been out to see the kids play ball?. . . No, you won't see any Terry Tebbs or Art Buntes, in action, but you'll see a gang of kid's who are just as serious as the "Y" and "U" teams are about winning that game. . . It's not a far-fetched prediction to suggest you'll be seeing some of these same kids playing ball for a good many years, and perhaps for Utah, BYU or the USAC. --co-- The Old Timer says: "There's one thing to be said for children they never pull out pictures of the grandparents!" - - c o - -AUTOMOBILE OWNERS have you stopped to think that next Tuesday, Feb. 28th, is the final day to get license plates for the old 'bus before becoming delinquent? de-linquent? . w Leap year doesn't count even though there is an extra day in February, the deadline dead-line is still FEB. 28th, which is next Tuesday. |
