Stringfellow Stringfel-low is scheduled to spend next Tuesday in Duchesne County meeting with, and becoming be-coming acquainted with those whom he serves in Washington. Duchesne County will be visited vis-ited next Tuesday, Oct. 6, by its representative in the Congress of the United States, Douglas R. . -. Stringfellow of Ogden. who is making a tour of his district to discuss problems with the people peo-ple and to become better acquainted ac-quainted with them. The congressman plans to arrive ar-rive in the county Tuesday morning and will be available at Duchesne for conferences. He will address a public meeting at the Duchesne L.D.S. stake house at 1 p.m., following a luncheon at a Duchesne cafe ' at noon. Following the public meeting, Cong. Stringfellow will go to Roosevelt to confer with the people in the eastern end of the county. At 6:30, Kiwanis, Lions and the Chamber of Commerce of Roosevelt will join in an intercity inter-city meeting, each advancing their regular weekly meeting to' that date, to hear Cong. Stringfellow, who will address them. Observance of National Newspaper Week will contain part of Mr. Stringfellow's address. add-ress. Following his meeting with the service clubs the congressman congress-man will address a public meeting meet-ing at the Roosevelt LDS stake house beginning at 8:15. According to J. V. McLea' who is arranging the itinery for J the legislator, the visit of Mr. Stringfellow is definitely of a non-political nature his chief concern is to become better acquainted ac-quainted with the people he is serving in Washington. Nothing he will have to say will be of a partisan nature, but in the interest in-terest of better government and with the desire to offer help I to groups, regardless of party! affiliation, who have problems that a congressman can help with. If special groups desire an individual in-dividual conference with Cong. Stringfellow to discuss personal or group problems, they should make arrangements with Mr. McLea and time will be arranged ar-ranged if at all possible. An interesting sidelight to Mr. Stringfellow's trip to the Basin is the announcement that the life story of the congressman congress-man will be featured next Sunday Sun-day evening on the "Call Me Freedom" program, to be carried car-ried on a national hook-up by all stations of the American Broadcasting Co'. KUTA of Salt Lake will carry the story at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4. Cong. Stringfellow was honored hon-ored by Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, Pa., and portrays por-trays each week the life of some great American who has made an outstanding contribution to his country. He was honored in 1950 by Freedoms Foundation when he received third place in the nation for making 200 speeches on Americanism. |
