Show Utah Bond Boom Sets Hew Marks People in Utah are finding more and more reasons for buying buy-ing U. S. Defense Bonds and with added reasons are adding to the total of bonds bought, Charles L. Smith, state chairman, chair-man, said today, Sales of the popular Series E bonds neared three-fourths of a million dollars during August, Mr. Smith reported. This was an increase of more than $33,-000 $33,-000 over the total for the same month a year ago. "We're especially pleased to note that Utah's gains are ahead of the nation's average," Mr. Smith remarked. Thrift and security are still important reasons Utah people give for their bond buying habits, hab-its, he said, but the war in Korea and the threats to democracy and freedom have given added weight to patriotic motives for buying U. S. Defense Bonds. Series E totals during August were $730,323 compared with $697,085 for August 1950. Largest Lar-gest gains were noted in Box Elder, Cache, Iron, Millard, Rich, Tooele and Weber counties. In addition to previously reported re-ported sales, Utah was recently credited with bond purchases of $601,000 made by Utah men in the armed services and other' government agencies. Duchesne county reported the sale of $450 in series E bonds for the month, is a report issued is-sued by Wesley R. Dickerson, bond sales chairman. |
