He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel C. Woodland, Wood-land, Logan, and was employed as an instuctor at Alterra High last year and was clerk for the Roosevelt Second ward. His other church activity includes the M.I.A. and Sunday school, where he had served as superintendent super-intendent in the 17th Logan ward. This will be the second mission mis-sion for Elder Woodland. He had spent two years previously in the Eastern States. He is a veteran of World War II and was stationed in Hawaii for three years. He is the husband of Althea Rawlins, whom he married in 1946, and has three children, Ronald Keith, ZVt years old, and Susan and Steven Dee, twins, who will be one month old next Thursday. To supplement the church missionary program and to replace re-place the young men who are being released as missionaries, most of whom are entering the armed forces shortly after they return from their missions, the church leadership is asking for three missionaries from each of the 345 Quorum of Seventy in the church. Elder Woodland is the first to be called from the Roosevelt stake. Only those who are draft-deferred are eligible el-igible for mission calls, plus the young women over 23 years of age. |
