Show Livestock Study Made Dy Eastern Scientists A team of scientists and Dr. Dan Dennis, veterinarian, recently made a preliminary survey of the conditions in the Uintah Basin in an effort to discover the cause of the high death loss of calves from Brisket Disease in this area., The survey, which is of special interest to livestock owners in the Basin, .was conducted on two high mountain ranges, take Fork Mountain and Jaskson Park areas. It was made on July 10 and 11. The team of scientists, most of whom are top men in their field, included Dr. E. V. Thacker, nutritionist nut-ritionist and Dr. K. C. Beesom, soiL scientst, both from the U. S. plant soil and nutrition labra-tory labra-tory at Cornell University, Ithaca, N. Y. Dr. Wayne Cook, poisonous plant specialist, Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural College Forestry Department Depart-ment and DDr. Joe Thorne and Le Grand Shup from the veterinary veterin-ary department, USAC were the , other scientists. Brisket Disease has become an increased problem during the last decade. Since Dr. Dennis arrived a few years ago he has been trying try-ing to get some research started in this area. Local men who assisted with the survey are Cecil Jenkins, Dewey' Meriwether, George Fisher, Horace and Dee Allred. t . |
