He will be seeking a second six-year term i in Washington. I Senator Bennett Only Candidate For U. S. Senate Wallace F. Bennett has filed for re-election to the United States Senate, it was disclosed this week. Senator Bennett is un-! un-! opposed for the Republican nom-: nom-: ' ination. In announcing his candidacy, Sen. Rennet said, "I have been I able to initiate or support many' ' programs of specific value to the State, including numerous recla-i recla-i mation and flood control projects; proj-ects; improvement of our National Na-tional Parks and Monuments; improvements im-provements in recreational facilities facili-ties in our National Forests; increased funds for school land surveys, predatory animal control and many similar projects. "In the field of education, I have supported' the legislation for ; aid to Federally affected areas, which has brought more than $11 million into Utah for our schools. I actively supported the Fulbright Act, which provides for international interna-tional exchange of students, and I was instrumental in getting $10 million restored to the student excange program. I also supported support-ed an increase in borrowing i authority of HHFA for college housing, and co-sponsored the emergency School Construction Act." He also noted that he was author of trie Sugar Act of 1956, and of the industrial dispersal legislation which is bringing new defense industry to the West. 1 Sen.
