Show "News Bils About Yester-Years" 5 YEARS AGO A special committee has recommended recom-mended that a Chamber of Commerce Com-merce be organized in Roosevelt. The committee, composed of L. L. Pack, E. J. Nixon, Howard Harms-ton, Harms-ton, Albert Harris, Paul Murphy and Cliff Memmott, was appointed at a mass meeting on July 5, by business and professional men to study the organization of main street. The Roosevelt Stake MIA has completed arrangements for the annual July 24 celebration and Rodeo which is set to begin Monday Mon-day evening, July 23, with a rodeo program at the Roosevelt rodeo grounds. Assisting the MIA is the Roosevelt Riding Association. Another attraction for the UBIC celebration has been announced by Dr. Paul Stringham, who is offering of-fering a large . traveling trophy for the champion tennis player Men's singles, a trophy for boy's singles; and medals for winners in men's and boys doubles. The Rosevelt Stake Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially received the deed last Saturday afternoon from Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Allen for a cabin they built and used as a summer home for several years. The cabin . is located near the Windin Camp grounds in Uinta Canyon. 10 YEARS AGO A sawdust filled frame building burst into flames early Thursday morning. The structure, located in the rear of the Calder building which had' ben used for an ice house until a few years ago, blazed blaz-ed up Thursday morning and the sawdust, which had never been removed, completed the fire hazard haz-ard which the old building constituted. con-stituted. The Bluebell Roosevelt road, which for a number of years has been out of use, will be reconstructed recon-structed immediately, according to a decision of the Duchesne Co. Commissioners. Fire Chief, A. L.' Scholes sternly stern-ly reminded that the procedure to follow in reporting a fire is to notify the telephone operator first. The operator in turn will send out a call to the individual firemen. After having its first application for asphalt sidewalks in Roosevelt city rejected by the WPA, the city council determined to see their project through, sent a special envoy, made up of Walter At-wood At-wood and Cliff Angus, to Provo to resubmit personally the sidewalk side-walk project to WPA officials.
