Show Mason paces locals tV in state all-star tilt By TOM HARALDSEN Sports Editor SALT LAKE CITY Region Four athletes proved to be the heroes as squads of 4-A all stars defeated their 3-A counterparts during the 15th annual Utah High School Coaches Association-Camp Association-Camp Kostopulos All-Star games Tuesday night. Seven local players 1 among state all stars J The 4-A girls bested their 3-A rivals 71-66, paced by the 17 point performance of Woods Cross' Amy Mason. The outstanding Woods Cross guard tied the game at 64-all with 1:18 left on two free throws, then scored with 52 seconds left to help ice the victory. Davis County was well represented repre-sented on the team, as Woods Cross' Marci Heaps scored three points, Viewmont's Becky Yeates added six, and Clearfield players Amber Poll and Promise Mcintosh scored 10 and two points respectively. respec-tively. It was the boys' turn next, and with expanded quarters (10 minutes mi-nutes instead of the usual eight) and loose officiating, the 4-A stars rolled to an exciting 116-112 vie- S tory. Layton' s Albert Chappell scored w in the final minute to pull the 4-A O squad to within one, then stole a . pass and tossed a feed to High- land's Kurt Christensen for the go- g ahead basket.
