Show The awakening that must come By REV. LYNN P. WESTON Immorality is rocketing at an alarming rate, divorce, drugs, crime in the streets, white-collar defrauding and a million other attempts to flaunt the laws of God shock us into an awareness of the seriousness of the hour. The entire Western World is being engulfed by a tidal wave of secularism, if not rightout godlessness. And here stands the Christian Church. Yet the critics cry that the Christian Church itself is ineffec tive to make any changes. Where is the standard it used to raise? Is the contemporary Christian Church really inept and incapable of doing nothing about our headlong plunge into a moral abyss that will inevitably inevit-ably spell destruction? Yet there are others who tell us a great spiritual awakening is dawning dawn-ing in America. These people are not found exclusively in pulpits. George Gallup, the famous pollster has revealed some startling facts: One in three Americans says they have been "born again." Fifty-six percent of the American Amer-ican people say religion is very important im-portant to them. Ninety-four percent of Americans Amer-icans believe in God. Perhaps most important of all, 88 percent of Americans would like to see a religious revival. I feel God is preparing the ground, breaking up the soil, sowing sow-ing the seed to give Americans and hopefully the whole Western World a great spiritual renewal, just waiting to burst on the scene with the impact of a sudden summer sum-mer thunderstorm. Surely we all wish this could be true. During March 25-27, the Wasatch Baptist Church of Kays-ville Kays-ville will present three days of revival re-vival services. All are invited to come and participate as we share in spiritual renewal beginning at 7 p.m. Friday night, March 25. An awakening of our soul needs to come to all of us, indeed must come. President Franklin D. Roosevelt has told us "Never has a man of ease left a mark on history . " To put it in modern terms, those who "play it cool" do not change their times or lives. Come join us from March 25-27 at the Wasatch Baptist Church, 94 E. Center, Kaysville. For more information, in-formation, call 546-1319. |
