Show LARRY L. MOODY Bountiful man invited to go to China A Bountiful resident and former Bountiful policeman, Larry L. Moody, now a lieutenant with the West Valley City Police Depart-."tjent, Depart-."tjent, has been invited to visit the Qople's Republic of China under tne auspices of the Citizen Ambassador Ambas-sador Program of People to People' International. Lt. Moody, a firearms instructor for his department, would be part of a contingent of 30 U.S. firearms experts making the three-week trip from May 27 through June 17. A major reorganization of China's Chi-na's law enforcement and firefight-ing firefight-ing agencies has been undertaken recently, shifting the operation from military to civilian control. Once in China, the police firearms expert will visit Beijing, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong and participate in a series of seminars, meetings and informal discussions with his counterparts, coun-terparts, including a number of sessions ses-sions on the firing range to demonstrate demons-trate firearms use and training techniques. People to People International was founded in 1956 by Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower to encourage encour-age individuals to serve as citizen ambassadors in support of official diplomacy and to promote goodwill good-will and understanding on an international inter-national scale. Lt'. Moody spent two years on the Brigham City police department, depart-ment, was a Bountiful policeman three years and joined the West Valley City force in 1980. He was promoted to sergeant in 1984 and lieutenant in 1986. He is currently in charge of support services for his department, which includes training, train-ing, community relations and the department's reserve police officers. He and his wife, the former Vicki Goodman, have three sons, a daughter and are expecting their fifth child this summer. |
