Show Important Dates, Other Data Given By County Clerks Concerning Coming Fall Elections Information pertaining to date preceding the coming general gen-eral election next November, which will include county officials, of-ficials, state and national representatives rep-resentatives and district judges, has been released by Porter L. Merrell, county clerk. 1 Following is information each voter should keep in mind it will be helpful in answering questions that will arise the next five months The county clerk shall deliver registration supplies and official register to each registration agent. July 10 Disabled persons may register by mail with the county clerk. Also, persons who are going to be absent from the county on all the registration days may register personally with the county clerk; except on Sundays and holidays, and regular registration days; also, a 10-day period immediately preceding the election day. July 23 Registration notices no-tices shall be posted within district dis-trict by registration agent. Aug. 3 First registration day. Office hours between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Aug. 3-23 The secretary of state shall send a list of national, na-tional, state and district candi- dates for the regular primary election to each county clerk and as soon after Aug. 23, as possible, the county clerk should receive absent-voter ballots bal-lots from the printer for the regular primary election. Aug. 7 Republican state primary convention in Salt Lake City. Aug. 9 Candidates for Justice Jus-tice of the Supreme Court and District Judge may withdraw at any time prior to Aug. 10. Aug. 16 Qualified electors who are physically disabled or who expect to be absent from their precinct and. not within 20 miles of their pricinct, may make application with the cffuny clerk for a primary election elec-tion absent-voter ballot. Aug.- 17 Registration day. Office hours between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. ' Aug. 20 The registration agent shall fill in names of all qualified electors registered to date in the registration list, first and added posting. This book shall be posted within 200 feet of the polls for the regular primary election. Aug. 24 Registration Day. Office hours between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Aug. 25 The county clerk shall prepare notice of regular primary election for publication and shall send notices to registration regis-tration agents for posting. Polls at county primary election shall close at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 (or before) Registration Regis-tration agents shall post notices for regular primary election within their district at least five days prior to the election. Sample ballots for regular primary pri-mary election shall be sent to the county clerk. Sept. 3 - Oct. 2 Certificate of nomination for independent candidates shall be filed with the proper official 30 to 60 days prior to the November election. Candidates must accept nomination within 8 days after filing. Sept. 8 Registration agents are to post notices for regular primary election within their district. . Sept. 9 Clerk makes deliveries de-liveries of official ballots and election supplies to' judges of (or before) election. Sept. 11 Political parties shall appoint one watcher per district for the regular primary election. Sept. 14 Regular primary election day. Nov. 2 General election day. |
