Show LeetomBeiineti Mrs, Fern Houston Missionary Party Honored Douglas Phillips The many friends of Douglas Phillips gathered at the church to bid farewell and wish him success on his mission. There was a fine program presented. The first song, "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go," was sung by the congregation, and Bishop John Bolton was the first speaker, followed by a song, by Janice Neilson, "Crying "Cry-ing In The Chapel," accompanied accompan-ied by Carol Memmott; talk, by Wendell Johnson; an accordian solo, by Lorraine Long; remarks, re-marks, by Bishop John Haslem; reading, by Frances Horrocks; remarks, by Douglas Phillips, and the closing prayer, by Ken-nith Ken-nith Phillips. Dancing was the feature of the evening and a delicious lunch was served by the Relief Society. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Long attended the P-TA meeting at Alterra, Monday evening. Word comes from W. H. Col-tharp Col-tharp that he is feeling much better since going to a lower climate and is enjoying himself in Oakland, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hama-ker Hama-ker were surprised Saturday evening when her sister -and husband, Mr. and Mrs. James Wood, of Greeley, Colo., came for a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wardle, of Springville, were here over the weekend on business and visited her sister, Mrs. Winfred Long, and family. . Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Betts visited at the Al Betts and the Clair Haslem homes. They are from Springville. Mrs. Jennie Wing has gone to Salt Lake City to enter the Holy Cross Hospital for an operation. op-eration. Mr. and Mrs. Dick 1 Coombs, of Montana, are here to help at the store and be with her. Mrs. Helen Jang, of San Francisco, is also here. Bishop John Haslem went to Salt Lake City to attend conference. con-ference. Mrs. Frances Bowen was in Salt Lake City all week for the Relief Society and General conferences. con-ferences. Mrs. J. A. Houston has been helping at the Wing Store, on account of Mrs. Wing's illness. |
