Show P-TA Holds First Meeting Sept. 28 First P-TA meeting was held at Alterra, Monday evening, Sept. 28, with Mrs. Ross Iorg.. president, conducting. The various var-ious committees were appointed. appoint-ed. There were approximately 45 in attendance. The next meeting will be held Oct. 26, with the Ft. Duchesne parents as hosts. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lem-mons, Lem-mons, of Salt Lake City, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire during the week. Mr. Lemmons is an uncle of Mrs. Squire. Glenda Gardner, Larry Lar-sen Lar-sen and Gary Gardner, who are attending the U.S.A.C. at Logan, Log-an, spent the weekend at home. Kay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stanley has been ill and was absent from school most of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jenkins and family spent Sunday visiting visit-ing friends and relatives in Vernal. Ver-nal. Enoch and Eric Stolla, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stolla, have registered at the U. of U. for the coming school year. Ensign Clark and Frank Bingham, Bing-ham, who are employed in Salt Lake City, spent the weekend at the Charles Bingham home.. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kettle and family visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kettle, near Myton, on Saturday. John Smith and James Cos-ton, Cos-ton, of Vernal, have been doing some repair work at Alterra. Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins, Col-lins, Mrs. Ernest Betts and Mr. and Mrs. Mary Collins left on Thursday evening for Salt Lake City to attend conference and to visit James Collins, who has been ill. Mr. and Mrs. Garn Bodily and two children, of Salt Lake City, have been visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jenkins, and Mr. and Mrs. Junior Jun-ior Betts. Due to' the General Conference Confer-ence in Salt Lake City, and some staying home to listen over ov-er the radio, we had a small attendance at-tendance at Sunday School. Mrs. Jesse Butcher went to Naples on last Wednesday, to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Eliza Lind. Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Johnson John-son attended the Seminary convention con-vention at Roosevelt last Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. This meeting was for all Seminary workers in the Uintah Basin, and their partners. The baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hullinger has been on the sick list for two or three weeks, but is much better at this writing. Snellen Johnson and Gilbert Ross, who are in the band at the Union High School, went to Salt Lake City to attend a musical program on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Bellon received a letter from their daughter, Mrs. Frank Mehner, written just before the ship docked at Japan. Mrs. Mehner and baby were to join her husband, hus-band, who is with the armed forces there. Mrs. Evan Olsen, of Neola, attended the opening social of Relief Society on Tuesday. Mrs. Olsen was presented with a gift because of her faithful duties du-ties as secretary last year. Mrs. Karl Shisler acted as substitute teacher at Avalon two days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Max Todd, of Hayden, have been caring for the chores at the Russel Todd home, while the Todds were at conference. Delmar Gardner is having an addition built on his home in .A.lt6rr3 SHOW OFF FOR PARENTS Wednesday, Sept. 30, the Seagull Sea-gull class in Primary, held their demonstration for parents, under un-der the direction of their teacher, teach-er, Mrs. Florence Collins. The following girls put on a very nice program: Gwen Neilson, Nancy Johnson. Collen Hatch, Larrane Kettle, Beatrice Angus, and Patsy Hullinger. The girls explained their Seagull work and put on a play, "The Seagull Sea-gull Miracle." Then refreshments refresh-ments were served. Those present pres-ent were the girls' parents and the ward Primary officers. Speakers in Sacrament meeting meet-ing Sunday evening were Marvin Mar-vin Kettle, Earl Winn, Mrs. Beatrice Lundberg and David Asay. Miss Carolyn Ross and Miss Deanne Asay sang a duet and Miss Elaine Angus and Miss Patsy Hullinger played piano solos. |
