Mrs. Garda Seeley Altamont Band Performs In "U" Festival Altamont High School band was one of the 19 Utah High school bands participating at 'the University of Utah stadium on Saturday evening. The oc-cassion oc-cassion was the U of U . Band festival, a pre-game feature of the football game between the Utes and the University of Hawaii. Ha-waii. 1500 band members took part in the event. As they entered the stadium, they marched around the track and assembled in mass formation on the field to form the letters, U. S. A., under the direction of Ronald Gregory, "U" band conductor. They led off with John Phillip Sousa's stirring, "Star and Stripes Forever." Also the concluding con-cluding number was the National Na-tional Anthem which was led by Pro. LeRoy J. Robertson, head of the Unviersity's mucis department. Prior to the mass assembly each band was given four minutes to do their specialty spec-ialty on the stadium track, Al-mont Al-mont played its number. The parade began at 7:15 p.m. and ended at 9 p.m. just before the ball game. The bands registered at thei "U" band building earlier in the day and they practiced for the evening's performances at 5:30 p.m. They had an outdoor lunch in the stadium through the courtesy of the U of U athletic department. Mr. Henry Maiben is Alta-mont's Alta-mont's new band teacher this year. Those from Bluebell enjoying en-joying and participating in the band's two-day trip to' Salt Lake City were: Dale Seeley, Paul Monson, Larry Lisonbee, Janet Seeley, Colleen Roberts. I. W. Barlow. Lynn Bird drove the bus. i Linda Wonnacott, the small! daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill ' Wonnacott of Provo, is visiting her Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Winkler. Mr. and Mrs. John Goodrich and daughter, Carolyn, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Goodrich visited at Bonanza on Saturady. AT CONFERENCE Among those attending Relief Society conference at Salt Lake , City on Wednesday and Thurs-day Thurs-day were Mrs. Laura Seeley, Mrs. Betty Lou Goodrich and' Mrs. Loretta Murray. Mrs. An-ona An-ona Miles, Pres. of Moon Lake Stake . Relief Society, of Mt. Home, also accompanied the group to Salt Lake City. Oth-, Oth-, ers who attended General Conference Con-ference were Bishop and Mrs. James Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wal-ter Remington and son, Kent. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Goodrich Good-rich and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jennings were dinner guests on Sunday of Mrs. Mary Snyder and Mrs. Mary Ann Case, of Altamont. Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Atwood, of Bluebell, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miles, of Mt. Emmons, and Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Atwood returned re-turned from a week's trip to Southern Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of the places they visited were Bryce Canyon, Can-yon, Grand Canyon and the Boulder dam. They report a wonderful trip. |
