Show Support Urged . . . . Deadline Is Set For Mailing Ballots In P.M.A. Election ; Farmer committeemen ballots must be mailed to the County PMA office at Roosevelt, Utah, not later than Saturday, Oct. 10, 1953, Chairman Reed Lyons today advised eligible farmer voters. "Ballots have been mailed to all Duchesne County farmers who are known to be eligible to vote in these elections. Farmers, Farm-ers, in order to have their votes counted in this year's important election, must mark them and mail them so' they bear a postmark post-mark not later than Saturday, Oct. 10, 1953," Chairman Lyons said. "You are eligible to vote if you are an owner, operator, tenant, ten-ant, or sharecropper of a farm and are participating in or carrying out practices in accordance accord-ance with programs administered administer-ed by the PMA committees. The ballots are prepared to permit voting for three farmers to serve as members of the community com-munity committee, and for a delegate to the county convention conven-tion where the delegates will elect the county committee and alternates," he continued. According to Chairman Lyons, the caliber of the leadership chosen for these committees will have much to do' with the effective ef-fective operation of price support sup-port operations in Duchesne County, as well as with other PMA administered programs. They are responsible for determination deter-mination of acreage allotments on any crops for which allotments allot-ments are in effect. Committeemen Committee-men approve applications for price support loans. Storage facility fa-cility loans are also' approved or disapproved by county committeemen. com-mitteemen. Local administration of crop insurance, with the exception ex-ception of loss adjustment, is another program under the county committeemen's supervision. |
