Show Our Boys In The Service BEN P. GOMM Cadet Ben P. Gomm. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben C. Gomm, of Mt. Emmons, and a student at Utah State Agricultural college, Logan, is attending a six-week Quartermaster ROTC summer camp at Fort Lee, Virginia. Cadet Gomm is active in the following college organizations-Lambda organizations-Lambda Delta Sigma and Pershing Per-shing Rifles. He will participate in a variety va-riety of field exercises at the summer camp designed to develop devel-op further his leadership ability and increase his technical knowledge. BRYANT M. GILBERT Cadet Bryant M. Gilbert, son of Mrs. Rose D. Gilbert, of I Arcadia, Utah, is attending a six-jweek six-jweek Quartermaster ROTC summer sum-mer Camp at Fort Lee, Virginia, which began June 17. He is a student at Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college, Logan. LAWRENCE BAUMGAERTEL Lawrence D. Baumgaertel, seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Baumgaertel. of Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, is serving aboard the attack cargo ship USS Skagit, operating in the Far EaBt with units of the Amphibious Force. The Skagit helped move supplies sup-plies and equipment ashore at Inchon during the recent Communist Com-munist offensive. Her crew is now enjoying- a brief respite and liberty period in a Japenese port. BILLY ARNOLD Communists shore batteries are finding fhat it is unhealthy to fire on U. S. ships, and Billy Arnold, seaman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam H. Arnold, of Roosevelt, is helping prove it aboard the destroyer de-stroyer USS Brinkley Bass. The target of enemy shore batteries in Wonsan harbor, the ship was slightly damaged as Red shells slammed close aboard. In a return fire engagement, the Brinkley and other UN ships, silenced the shore guns with a heavy barrage of shells. The Bass was participating in . the siege of Wonsan when the incident occurred. |
