Show ORSEBS ENTERTAIN VISITORS THIS WEEK Mrs. J. O. Orser and Mrs. Mary Orser enjoyed Sunday visiting vis-iting with many old-time residents resi-dents of this area. The following friends had been to a Colton reunion in Vernal and stopped enroute home to visit at the Orser home: Mrs. Flora Collett, of Salt Lake City, her two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Thomas, Thom-as, of Salt Lake, and Mrs. Marie Wheeler, of San Francisco, her son, Carl Collett, of Canada, and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colton, of Salt Lake City; and Dr. John Sargent, of Salt Lake -City. A guest at the Orser home Sunday night was Mrs. Pearl Smith, of St. George, the former form-er Pearl Timothy, who had just returned from a Timothy reunion re-union in Provo canyon. Another guest visiting here this week is Miss Nellie Stevenson, Steven-son, of Price, sister of Mary Stevenson, who resides at the Orser residence. She is visiting enroute from a vacation trip to Long Beach, California. Arriving Wednesday by bus from Logan were two of Mrs. Mary Orser's grandchildren, Mary Lynn and Ralph Crockett, who plan to visit here a few weeks. 4-H Club Report THE ROSY STITCHERS The Rosy Stitchers 4-H club met Friday, July 13, at the home of their leader, Mrs. V. A. Bair, who assisted with their sewing-' project. Four members were present. Anna Lee Christensen, reporter r Joyce Burr Tells Of Experience At Girls' State ' ' p f i u "Absolutely wonderful" were the words of Joyce Burr in describing her stay at Girl's State at Logan, held from June 24 to July 1, Miss Burr, who W88 sponsored spon-sored by the American Legion Auxiliary, was the only representative repre-sentative from Roosevelt, and during the week's routine on government, Miss Burr was the city commissioner for "Maw" City and also the county assessor for "Liberty" county, She was one of 145 girls present pres-ent from various parts of the state, and said that she was really thrilled with the knowledge knowl-edge gained about citizenship and good government. "GET ACQUAINTED" PARTY FETES GUEST Miss MaReen Nelson, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Nelson, of Bingham canyon, was the honored guest at a "get acquainted" ac-quainted" party, given by her grandmother, Mrs. Homer P. Edwards, Ed-wards, last Saturday night. It was indeed a f un-fest, when the girls made and decorated several sev-eral kinds of homemade candy. Invited for the gay event were Maria Pulos, JeNeal Pack, Carol Memmott, Donna Murray, Mary White, Diane Nelson, Vicky Swanson, Gay Patry, Helen Hel-en Rudy, Carol Schaefermeyer, Maura and Maxine Hurley, Mary Murphy, Sharon McKenna, Tre-va Tre-va Ann Gabbert, Katherine Rowley, Row-ley, Nancy Whitbeck. Carol Lynn Cook, Ranae Eldredge and Margaret Van. Lovely refreshments were serve' to the group at the climax cli-max of the evening. SQUARE DANCING AT POWER PLANT Forty-two members and guests of the Square Dancing club enjoyed en-joyed an outing last Saturday night at the power plant, with a buffet style pot-luck supper preceding the dancing. Directing the dances were Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Buchanan, and co-hosts for the party were Dr. and Mrs. Paul Stringham and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Memmott. STORK SHOWER HONORS GUEST Mrs. Marlin Wilkerson was the honored guest at a stork shower given by the Second L.D.S. " ward Relief Society at the home of Mrs. E. J. Nixon, Wednesday, July 11. Twenty-two guests were present pres-ent for the occasion, enjoying games and delicious refreshments. D.U.P. WILL GIVE PROGRAM AT CHURCH The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will present the program pro-gram at the Sacrament meeting of the' Roosevelt Second L.D S. ward next Sunday evening at 6:30 p. m. Speakers will be Mrs. Mary Orser and Loman Hutch-ings. Hutch-ings. I Mrs, Clair Labrum will arrange ar-range for musical numbers, and jMrs. Homer P. Edwards is in charge of the program. SECOND WARD M.I.A. NEWS The Junior Gleaners and Junior Jun-ior M-Men of the Roosevelt Second Sec-ond L.D.S. ward M.I.A. enjoyed a swimming party and watermelon water-melon bust at Vernal Monday night with Mary Ellen Gardner, Maxine Allred and Ray Haslem, group leaders, chaperoning them. The Special Interest group continued with their square dancing,' under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Buchanan. The Gleaners and M-Men participated par-ticipated in a story hour, with Gerri Shields in charge. Other groups enjoyed parties at various homes. PENFIELD-LISONBEE ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Of interest to Roosevelt and Bridgelani residents this week is the announcement of the engagement en-gagement of Miss Shirley Pen-fiejd, Pen-fiejd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verdon Penfield, Roosevelt, and Sherwood Lisonbee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Lisonbee, of Bridgeland, Miss Penfield and Mr. Lisonbee Lison-bee are both students at Roosevelt Roos-evelt high school, WEDDING DANCE MYTON Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Benson, newlyweds, were hon-ored hon-ored at a wedding dance last Friday night at the Oasis dance hall. A large group of friends attended. MT. EMMONS VARIETY CLUB MT EMMONS The Mt. Emmons Em-mons Variety club met at the home of Mrs. Lyard McConkie Monday, July 9. A delightful evening of sewing sew-ing was enjoyed, after which a lovely luncheon was served to Mrs. Lucille Wall, Mrs. Rhea Lambert, Mrs. Irene Hislop, Mrs. Margaret Timothy, Mrs. Nedra Mohlman, Mrs. Loa Hansen. Han-sen. Mrs. Rosebell Wall and Mrs. Ilene McConkie were special guests. The next club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Nedra Ned-ra Mohlman. FOUR-YEAR-OLD HAS PARTY Little Sandra Leavitt, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Theron Leavitt, Lea-vitt, celebrated her fourth birthday birth-day Tuesday afternoon, when small guests were invited to her party, featured by a fish potid, games and party ' refreshments. Individual cakes were decorated in pink and white and topped with pink candles. Enjoying the delightful affair were Terry Reynolds, Jack and Jill Buchanan, Leslie Schmiett, Paula Murphy, Holly Harmston, Richard Nelson, Laney Ander-ton. Ander-ton. Drew Dillman, Susan and Karen Sullivan, and the honored hon-ored guest. Assisting Mrs. Leavitt was her daughter, Laura Ann. BARBEQUE SUPPER COMPLIMENTS GUESTS Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Eldredge entertained at a barbeque supper sup-per Tuesday night for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee McDonald, who are visiting here from Richmond, Rich-mond, California. SUNDAY SCHOOL BOARD PARTY The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hullinger was the scene last Friday evening of a lawn party for members of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt stake Sunday school board and their partners. Weiners were rgasted and watermelon wa-termelon served to the following guests: Mr, and Mrs. David Wat-kins, Wat-kins, Mr. and Mrs. Royal Hor-rocks, Hor-rocks, Mr. and Mrs, Dwain Buchanan, Bu-chanan, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiscombe, Lamont Nielson, Miss Myrtle Collins and Miss Lorraine Lor-raine Hullinger. UINTAH CANYON SCENE OF PARTIES A round of entertainment was in swing this week when members mem-bers of the Tuesday Bridge club were feted in Uintah canyon at several member's cabins at breakfasts and luncheons. The following group left Tuesday Tues-day morning, arriving in time for a no-host luncheon at noon: Mrs. J. P. Alsberg, Mrs. George Miller, Mrs. Sam Weiss, Mrs. R. S. Jordan, Mrs. Wayne Malin, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Eugene Harmston and Mrs. Myrtle Lambert. Co-hostesses Tuesday evening to the regular bridge club at the Harmston cabin were Mrs. Gordon Harmston and Mrs. Malin. Ma-lin. Attending besides the above-mentioned above-mentioned members and guests were Mrs. Clair Ashton, Mrs. Irene Fretwell, Mrs. Paul Stringham, Mrs. Bob Huish, Mrs. J. V. McLea, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Howard Harrison, Harri-son, Mrs. Axel Birch, and Mrs. Amon S. Brown, of Salt Lake City. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Birch and Mrs. Schmiett. Breakfast hostesses Wednesday morning at the Ashton cabin were Mrs. Schmiett, Mrs. Ashton, Ash-ton, Mrs. Huish, Mrs. Gordon Harmston and Mrs. Malin; and presiding over a Wednesday luncheon were Mrs. Jordan, Mrs. Weiss, Mrs. Eugene Harmston and Mrs. Lambert, who entertained enter-tained at the Harmston cabin. VISITOR HONORED Mrs. Chris Apostol, of Bingham Bing-ham canyon, was honored guest Friday afternoon when Mr. and Mrs. Parley Rawlings entertained entertain-ed at dinner at their home. Other family members present pres-ent included Mr. and Mrs. Donald Don-ald Laris and family, Mrs. La-Rue La-Rue La.ris and family, Mrs. Jack Holder, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Laris, Mrs. Amanda Abplanalp and Glenda Abplanalo. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING Charming hospitality prevailed prevail-ed at the Floyd Labrum residence resi-dence Wednesday evening, July 11, when Mrs. Labrum presided as hostess to members and guests of Neighborhood Sewing club. An evening of sewing, followed fol-lowed by a tasty dessert luncheon, lunch-eon, was participated in by Mrs. LaRue Laris, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Rawl-ings, Mrs. Neldon Nyberg, Mrs. Joseph Rawlings, Mrs. Guy Burton, Bur-ton, Mrs. Frank Yack.' Mrs. Dwain Buchanan, Mrs. Stanley Hall, Miss Dicia Emert and Miss Maurine Yack.
