Show MRS. MARIE BENSON Ten years of service by Mrs. Marie Benson to the young people peo-ple of Ioka was climaxed when she received the Gold Four-Leaf Clover award at the Annual 4-H: Achievement Prog-ram on November No-vember 10. This award was presented to Mrs. Benson in recognition of her 10 years as a local 4-H Club leader. During those ten years some very outstanding work has been done by members of the Rainbow Rain-bow foods, club and other groups which have been under the leadership lead-ership of this outstanding lady. Two years ago Mrs. Benson received re-ceived the Utah Farm Bureau Award for outstanding 4-H Club leadership. This award is presented pre-sented annually to the thre women and the three men 4-H Club leaders considered to' be the most outstanding in the State of Utah. The people of Ioka think of Mrs. Benson as the symbol of 4-H Club work. She can be credited with much of the success suc-cess of the other 4-H Clubs in Ioka because of her diligent work in helping to' find new leaders, acquainting parents and prospective members with the program, and in giving wholehearted whole-hearted cooperation to the Extension Ex-tension Service in conducting 4-H Club work. She has served under the direction of four different dif-ferent County Extension Agents. Foods projects have been her specialty and she recalls many happy experiences through the years, including the time when she had a club of 19 members in 2nd year foods, four of which were boys. For two years every eligible boy and girl in Ioka was enrolled in 4-H Club work, due largely to Mrs. Benson's efforts. ef-forts. She is also very active in the Ioka L D S Ward. She served many years in the M I A as president pres-ident and as a dance director, and as president of the Ward Primary Association. She is the mother of five sons who are successful suc-cessful in their chosen occupations occupa-tions and all of them look forward for-ward to an occasional visit to their home in Ioka. At the present time, she and her husband, Archie Benson, are I operating Benson's Health Foods Store in Roosevelt. I |
