Show II BEPnESENTED DUCHESNE COUNTY ! AT GIRLS STATE IN LOOAFi ! Five of Duchesne county's out-ending out-ending high school co-eds at-Sed at-Sed Girls State held on the ampus of the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college, at Logan, June I 21 to July 1. 1951- They were: oelene Hemphill, Jeanne Jensen, ' Joan Bench, Minnie Lue Jessen and Joyce Burr. All were select- j on the basis of leadership, i ability, character, scholarship, ! spirit of cooperation, and hon-I hon-I csty. ! Helene Hemphill, daughter of i j(r and Mrs. George D. Hemp-' Hemp-' bill of Myton, was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Wm. R- Sands Post, Unit 5, of Myton. She is a student at Union Un-ion High School. Jeanne Jensen was sponsored by the Fort Duchesne Du-chesne Women's club and Is a senior student at Union High this year. Miss Jessen, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Lee Jessen of Altonah, was .sponsored by the Altonah American Legion Auxiliary. Prominent in school and church affairs, she is a senior student at Altamont High School this year. Joyce Burr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Burr, was chosen by the Roosevelt American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State. She is a sen- ior student at Union High in Roosevelt this year. The fifth girl to represent iJucnesne county was Miss Joan Bench, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Edmund Bench of Duchesne She was sponsored by the Duchesne Unit, American Legion Auxiliary Auxil-iary She is a senior student at Duchesne HiKh this year All five girls returned from their ten-day trek to Logan bursting with enthusiasm and delighted with their experiences |
